Steve Murphy

Steve Murphy

After receiving a BFA in design Steve spent three years in the mountains of Japan as an apprentice to a Japanese master craftsman. There he came to respect and revere the beauty of Yakimono, the ceramic culture of Japan. Returning to the US in the early 1990’s, Steve set up his own studio in the heart of Boston and has focused most of his work on bowls, plates, platters, incense burners and other wares for the home in both high-fired stoneware and porcelain.  Many of his pieces are made with special clays, glazes and techniques he learned in Japan. Steve's collection for Dartmoor House marks the first time he has worked in bronze.
You can see some of Steve’s other work and read more about his career at bostonpottery.com
